ReadingFirst is a national non-profit organization dedicated to fostering children literacy. We belive children can start learning only after they've learned to read, and that makes literacy the vital foundation of any education. Our mission is to ensure all school age children learn to read and that the literacy skills of America's kids are on par with children around the world.

Based in New York City and founded in 1976 by the Rockerfeller Foundation, ReadingFirst has over 200 branch offices across the United States and over 450,000 active memebers and volunteers who support our mission and believe in our cause.
