Barbara is the NEWSWEEK Education Program National Sales Manager. She has worked with education sales and marketing for the past 12 years: at USA Today, the Close Up Foundation, and Fairfax County (VA) Adult and Community Education Program. Barbara has also worked as a sales consultant for Business Week and NEWSWEEK prior to taking the National Sales Manager position. She taught English at Cornell University and economics and business subjects at the high-school level in the United States and abroad. She has a BS in education from Indiana University and is completing coursework for a master's in linguistics from Georgetown University. Barbara lived and worked overseas in Yemen, Pakistan and Kenya. She currently resides in Southeastern Virginia.

Anna-Maria joined NEWSWEEK this past summer as the West Regional Manager for the Education Program. Anna-Maria combines a degree in education, earned from Deakin University in Australia, with extensive education and business experience. She comes to us from Kid Scoop, where she was Vice President, Sales and Development. Her Newspaper-in-Education experience began at the Tahoe Daily Tribune. She received many awards for her contributions to California reading and literacy organizations. Anna-Maria is based in the South Lake Tahoe, Calif. area.

Andr� has been the NEWSWEEK Education Program�s South Regional Manager for the past four years. A graduate of Ferris State University, he has teaching experience in social studies, English, reading, marketing and entrepreneurship. He received his teaching certification in marketing and business education from Eastern Michigan University. The creator of two award-winning educational games, Andre is based in the Jacksonville, Fla. area.

Ruth joined the NEWSWEEK staff as the Midwest Regional Manager for the Education Program this past summer. Majoring in communications and then completing her graduate work in educational media, Ruth spent 10 years at the Detroit News and Free Press as an educational consultant for its Newspaper-in-Education program. She also served in other advertising account executive and sales positions. During her time at the Free Press, she received the 1997 company-wide Employee of the Year Award. After her tenure at the newspaper, Ruth was a sales manager for Kinney & Associates, responsible for the sales and marketing of Web-based curriculum management programs in Michigan. Her experience also includes 10 years as a teacher and media specialist in New Jersey. Born in Scotland, she has two grown daughters and a new grandson. Ruth is based in the Detroit area.

Bob is the Northeast Regional Manager for the NEWSWEEK Education Program. He holds a bachelor's degree in education from Eastern Connecticut State University. Bob has experience as a middle-school and high-school social-studies teacher in Connecticut, where is based. As a Peace Corps volunteer in Sierra Leone, he was a secondary-school administrator and taught English and social studies. Bob has continued graduate studies in social-studies education at the University of Connecticut and Eastern Connecticut State.
